CAMFED Provides 477 e-Readers Devices for Secondary Schools at Chalinze

CAMFED Tanzania provides 477 e-Readers devices for nine public secondary schools at Chalinze District Council as tools for learning and teaching,the handing over took place at Chalinze Secondary school yesterday where there was English Literacy Debate,Story telling and Essay writing Competition awards

CAMFED  means Campain for Female Education is an international non-profit organization tackling povert and inequality by supporting girls to go to school and succeed,and empowering young women to step up in order to achieve their goals in education.

In Tanzania this organization launched in 2005 working with the Government to boost secondary schools enrolment.The organization started to work in the town of Iringa,where many girls who could not afford secondary school fees were leaving home to become “house girls”nd many returned home infected with HIV,or pregnant.

Currently the organization is working in Pwani Region by including five Local Government Authorities which are Bagamoyo,Chalinze,Rufiji,Kibiti and Kibaha.According to Project Manager of the Organization Mis.Latifa Sabuni in her speech at Chalinze secondary school,said that the objective of the organization is to facilitate the Child girl to acquire education easily by empowering to utilize the English Language effectively and efficiently through various competition in writing skills,speaking and debate”We decided to facilitate the students of form one who studied at community schools with bad foundation of English Language so as to enhance them to speak and write by conducting school and inter-schools debate competition for all public schools within Chalinze District Council”Sabuni said.

Also Project Manager added that,we as Camfed we have distributed electronic devices called “e-Readers”which installed all books used for secondary schools,for phace one we provided 477 pieces for nine schools which means 53 pieces for each school and those schools are;Kibindu,Kimange,Mandera,Kikaro,Msata,Kiwangwa,Lugoba,Mboga and Chalinze.These e-Readers will be used for both students and teachers as reference and text books.

On her side Fund Manager of the Project,Julia Tumbo insisted and advised the students to utilize e-Readers to emprove their language skills daily,and she imparted the word of encouragement by telling them that,education is basic right for every child.That is why President of Tanzania. H.E.Dr.John Pombe Magufuli decided to provide free education for Tnzanians children from form one up to four.”Even we as stakeholders of education we support the effort of Government to implement the ideas of free education and also the manifesto of Chama Cha Mapinduzi 2015-2020 as it stipulated”.Tumbo said.

The representative of the students at Chalinze Secondary School,Christin Aidan thanks the Project Manager and the management of Camfed for providing  the learning tools which is e-Readers and the facilitation of conducting debate competition,”These devices will be helpful for us and our teachers in learning process.”Christin said.

The District Secondary Education Officer,Timothy Benard who was the guest of honor at the debate competition award,told the students to learn English seriously through reading various books of  English and to participate in debate competition with other schools plus using e-Readers devices which we have got from Camfed and also to develop the habit of cooperation in learning between teachers and students remember”Today action is the success of tomorrow.”Benard said.

He added also by urging the English teachers to help the students on how to learn English which is a tool of learning since the English is medium of instruction for all subjects.Timothy thanks the Camfed for their initiatives to support the government on promoting the so called Free Education for All.

Lastly Education Officer awarded the price for winners in story telling,essay writing English debate and also for all participants in competition
